Humanistic Economic Considerations in Exotic Typeface Design — A Case Study of the Georgian Script
PRESENTATION
Abstract: Cross-cultural typeface design faces the challenge of balancing humanistic ethics and economic benefits. Existing research predominantly focuses on visual aesthetics and technical implementation, while paying insufficient attention to ethical norms and economic transformation mechanisms. This study takes Georgian script as a case study, employing an interdisciplinary research approach that integrates design ethics and humanistic economics. Through historical document analysis and design practice, it examines the dual attributes of writing as both cultural symbol and economic asset. The research proposes an ethical framework based on informed cooperation and value co-creation, emphasizing the inclusion of linguists and cultural representatives in the design process to ensure cultural accuracy. Economically, it advocates establishing a feedback mechanism where revenues support cultural reproduction.
